Weekend Happenings

So did everyone have a good Memorial Day weekend? I had a hectic one. But that really surprised me because my life is usually very normal and predictable. I did cook out. I grilled rib-eye steaks and did fresh corn on the cob on the grill and garlic and cheese toast. The toast was also done on the grill. Also, there was cold watermelon. Personally, watermelon is like my most favorite thing. I could have ate the whole thing by myself. Of course, I wouldnt have been able to eat my steak.

Jeff was there. Yes. After much thought I had him over. He has started the process to get into treatment. He is staying at the Salvation Army and getting on the list for a half way house. He is supposed to get on the list today. The Salvation Army is a bed and that is about it. In the morning they turn everyone out for the day. Jeff will be going to drug classes during the day while he waits for a bed to open at the half way house. But because it was the weekend there were no classes. So because he has started the process for help and I didnt think it would be cool for him to be walking the streets of Birmingham all day with nothing to do, I had him over.

It worked out well. We had a decent time. He is a little depressed and that is normal. Reality of his situation is hitting him pretty hard. I am glad.

I also watched the races Sunday. My man Tony Stewart looked as if he was going to win. Last few laps he was leading and I was totally excited. Then he blew a tire. It was over for him then and I just turned to set off. Casey Cain won and I like the guy okay, but he isnt Tony. I LOVE Tony Stewart. Have I ever told ya'll I have a life size cut out of him in my bedroom? Yeah--I do. My dirty secret. A 47 year old woman in love with a card board cut out. But he isnt demanding or anything. He just likes to be dusted now and again. My kinda guy!

Glad that you had a great weekend and were finally able to locate Jeff. You are a great friend to open up your house to him Lynn.

Well--believe me, it took a lot of thought. I am thankful it went so well. I am sure there will be bumps in the road. It is hard to recover from addiction and he is pretty confused and he hasnt even started good yet. And his wonderful Mother doesnt even want him to do this. She is a nut. A full fledged nut.

I think a cardboard cut out is the "perfect" man!
Sounds like a yummy barbque. We had rib eyes Sunday night and they were so good! I think that's my favorite cut of beef.
Good for you for having your ex over.He can certainly use the support of a good woman!
