Mothers Visit

My week with Momma has ended. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. But not because I wasnt looking forward to seeing her. I was. It was because I was afraid she wouldnt have a good time. I was going to be working during the day and I didnt want her to be bored. Turns out she is pretty low maintenance. Every morning started out with coffee and breakfast of some sort. Then I went to work and she went downstairs to read and watch her favorite show The Young and the Restless. She had to tell me about it every evening. And even though I told her repeatedly that I didnt watch this particular soap she would want to discuss the storyline and ask my opinion on what the characters were up to. She would also walk over to the office and visit in the afternoon with my boss. Both my boss and his wife were so kind to her and she just loved them both.

We did go a few places--my boss took us out to eat one night. And we went to the Thrift Store and to a junk store. The junk store was selling these wonderful plants outside and we never made it inside the junk store. There were soooo many plants and I plan to go back this weekend when I get more money. I bought the hanging basket you see below. I took a picture of mother on Sunday beside it. She is so cute for 82! And the flowers arent bad either!

We also got to babysit the twins on 2 different evenings. We had a blast with them. They are definately a handful but I wouldnt trade them for anything. Especially since when mom and dad get home I can give them back. In the pictures below they are playing with a tent of some kind. They had a lot of fun with that. Mother really loves to spend time with them. I just get scared because they can be pretty rough on her. They love to climb on you and jump up and down.

We also cooked out Saturday night. Turns out it was just me and mother. Just the way I wanted it. I grilled 2 ribeye steaks, fresh corn on the cob, garlic bread and beer brats. We had some sliced tomatoes also but I never got to them. It was a lot of food for 2 people and we still ate it all. After that I went to sleep on the couch.
Mother did have a great time. I am glad to have my house back but I still kind of miss her. I want her to come back before the summer is over. There is still the winery to take her to and the blueberries will be in come June and she likes to pick blueberries. And I love to eat them.
I am fortunate to have Mother and the relationship. We got along a lot better than we would have 10 years ago. It was nice having her.
Love you Momma.
